Hey there, I’m Ted! I’m a second-year animation student studying BA Animation at the University of the Arts London. I predominantly work in 2D digital character animation, but I have a strong passion for mixed media and stop-motion animation, and I take any chance I can get to combine the two. I enjoy making fun, upbeat, and lively animations with silly characters and whimsical stories. :)If you want to chat, don’t hesitate to reach out - my email is [email protected] or you can message me on Instagram at @tedanimates!

Stop-motion Rotation
Storyboarding Rotation
2D Animation Rotation

These short animations were made during my first term at university, and were designed to get us thinking about the fundamentals of animation. Each rotation lasted two weeks, and we received constant feedback from our tutors and peers. We explored the foundations of puppet-making in our Stop-Motion rotation, the key features of a good storyboard in our Storyboards rotation, and the ins and outs of the Grease Pencil in Blender and the 12 principles of animation in our 2D animation rotation.

CDBoy - Mr. Blue Sky

This was my coursework for my A-Level in Media Production, for which I recieved an A* and a 59.4/60 mark. It involved creating a fictitious music artist - CDBoy, in my case- and creating a brand identity around them, including a music video and a website. The website is still available here, and the film was nominated for Best Animation in the Media Magazine Production Competition and was screened at the British Film Institute, Southbank.

9:02 AM

This was my first individual assignment at university, and we were asked to create a short artefact based on the content covered in our lectures. I decided to create a short looping animation that depicts a part of my commute, set against many iconic characters from the history of animation, a topic we had covered extensively. Most characters were animated on paper and then scanned, with some coloured digitally. The three exceptions being myself in the centre and the two passerbys, which were created from paper and a small toy bug, respectively. We had 2 weeks to complete this assignment, and it was my first introduction to the software After Effects.

The Sun Sleeps Too
The Sun Sleeps Too

The Sun Sleeps Too is Marco Luppi’s debut album, and he commissioned me to create some short promotional animations for its release. I worked alongside him and a videographer to create a series of animations that would intertwine with live-action footage. The process was highly collaborative and involved working with another artist to create the album cover in line with the album's theme and aesthetic.

The Sun Sleeps Too

The Party was the first group assignment of my first year of university and involved working with my peers, Aemilia Hayes, Sofia Bouqdir, and Husna Harghandiwal, to create a 30-second animation. Aemilia and I worked together to blend stop-motion and 2D digital animation to explore the emotional turmoil of our protagonist. It was an incredibly hands-on project and taught me a lot about editing and composition!

Proof of Concept

Deep Fried is my most recent project and is not yet finished, but it will follow the story of two seagulls on the pier who eat some rotten food and have an out-of-this-world experience as a result. It’s my longest and most involved project so far, so I can’t wait to show it once it’s finished! For now, here’s some concept art and proof-of-concept videos to show the aesthetic I’m aiming for.

Sonic Visions

Sonic Visions was part one of the final assignment for my first year of university, in which I had to create a short animation in response to an audio clip by one of my peers. It encouraged us to think outside the box in connecting audio and visuals, and we were able to experiment with different media beyond traditional 2D digital animation. This animation was also selected for Hot 30 Microshorts, hosted by El Cid in Los Angeles, and received over 40,000 likes on Instagram!

Tanya and Cress

This film was part two of the final assignment for my first year of university, in which I had to find and interview a member of the public about their experiences in London. This animation was essential in helping me develop the key skills for lip-sync animation, including creating X-Sheets and mouth charts. This animation spanned 6 weeks and involved extensive pre-production and development.
This film received over 40,000 likes on Instagram!

The Joy of Creation

The Joy of Creation is my most recent finished project and was created in collaboration with my peers Rhianna Cork and Maya Namani. It was in response to the brief “Frankenstein Lives”, where we made something inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. I served as the creative lead for the project and took on the producer and directorial roles, supervising the animation to ensure it was as high-quality as possible. Scroll down to some of the development that went into the film, as well as my cleanup reel!
